Size: App. 1" long
Photo of a large beetle with what appears to be mites. If possible, I would like to identify both. Found on a lit front porch. Hot (app. 74 degrees) & humid.

Following the genus link, it looks like the Species is Nicrophorus orbicollis (Roundneck Sexton Beetle) based on the orange at the end of the antenna and the spot shape (both of which, according to the ID, make the identification e"easy to make"). But you still got me pointed in the correct direction.
As far as the mites go, I have seen them (and photographed them) on various species of moth, but at the time was unsure of what they were or what the particular species was. Since this is the first time I have seen them on a beetle, I figured it was about time to try & find out. I am still hoping for a better ID of the mites... even knowing that the smaller something is the harder they tend to be to identify.
