Death-watch Beetle - Striatheca lineata - male

Death-watch Beetle - Striatheca lineata - Male

Striatheca lineata White, male
Moved from Striatheca. ID'd from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks Tom.

Very nice find. Extends the range quite a bit, I think. Luckily for me, this male's abdomen was quite distended and the genitalia pre-everted, which allowed easy comparison to White's figure.

possible generic synonymy, and different placement
Striatheca is considered a synonym of Stagetomorphus (Tricoryninae).

Seems plausible to me, though I have never seen an American representative.

Moved
Moved from Dorcatominae.

Yes, it is! Pubescence clearly different in the similar Sculptotheca.

Striatheca?? would be so cool....
