Identification
Distinctive black and yellow patterned legs, and wing with darkened tip and dm-cu crossvein. Thoracic bristles reduced. Postocellar bristles absent.
Food
According to ION (below), a predator of the biting midge Culicoides variipennis (Ceratopogonidae). Larvae develop in stems of Carex, specifically C. torta, C. lurida, C. intumescens, C.stricta, C.vulpinoidea, C.crinita, C.rostrata, and C.frankii (Neff & Wallace 1969).
