Petrophila fulicalis? - Petrophila fulicalis

Petrophila fulicalis? - Petrophila fulicalis
Franklin County, Missouri, USA
July 1, 2014

Moved
Moved from Petrophila.
Further review of all available images indicates that fulicalis does in fact occur west of the Mississippi River, well down into Oklahoma and Texas.

Moved
Moved from Ozark Petrophila. I'm undoing my move of this image to Ozark (Hodges') Petrophila. This moth has all the hallmarks of Feather-edged (P. fulicalis) but to date the latter species has not been confirmed west of the Mississippi River. Northeast Missouri may be an area where Ozark and Feather-edged Petrophla's come into close contact or overlap. More study is needed.

Moved
Moved from Petrophila. This is the Ozark ecoregional representative of the fulicalis-species complex.
