New Porchlight Spider - Zygiella - Female
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA

Size: body 7mm long
These are the best shots I've been able to get of this spider, so far. I haven't had a chance to look at the images on Bugguide, yet, but if someone has an ID, that would be great. I think the next picture is pretty important, because it shows the spider's "house". A tubular structure.

The*ridion, or Zygi*ella?
The "trap" part of the web seems very much like a "cobweb". It has built this nest within 3 feet of a Zyg*iella specimen that was ID'd last year. It's just the web that has me stumped. I also haven't seen a spider around my house that builds a retreat like this one does. (see companion photo).

tonight and see if it built an orb web. I think it's Zygi*ella as well.
Furrow spiders also build similar retreats, minus the cobweb.

I just checked in the daylight
It is a "Z". I'll spray a mister on the web tonight and try to get a picture of it...getting too dark to see it now.
