Camponotus anthrax? - Camponotus anthrax

Camponotus anthrax? - Camponotus anthrax
Santa Barbara County, California, USA
July 1, 2014
Size: ~8-6mm
Found in Burton Mesa chaparral on hard packed rocky soils. These ants had ground nests with entrance holes in clearings in brush. All ants were from a 3 foot area and from what I could tell were members of the same hive.

Minors match up with , but I didn't see any "leggy" individuals like associated with these.
