Ant - Pseudomyrmex gracilis

Ant - Pseudomyrmex gracilis
League City, Galveston County, Texas, USA
July 2, 2014
Size: About half an inch long
I've seen these many times over the years, and have been told by a number of people they are fire ants, however I'm skeptical. I've only ever seen them on our wood fence and trees, and now today on our window. They are much larger than the fire ants we have around the yard, and don't seem to be nearly as aggressive. I've had a few crawl up my arm when I'm working in the garden before and have yet to be stung or bitten. They seem to move much faster than ants I'm more used to seeing (fire ants, sugar ants, piss ants, ect.)
I've tried over the years to ID these, my biggest concern was they were carpenter ants, as they seem to only be found on wood, but after extensive flipping through images I don't think that is what they are.
They don't seem to bother anything, so I'd like to leave them be if possible. I just want to make sure they aren't something that will potentially cause damage to our house. (such as carpenter ants or termites would)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
