Calleida purpurea

Calleida purpurea
Reclaim Plains, Old Orchard Beach, York County, Maine, USA
June 29, 2014
Swept from tall grass.

May I voice my preference for uniform white backgrounds
as this one example beautifully demonstrates? Not to single out "metrioptera", I notice that "roar" too follows this practice very nicely. I'm sure I missed a dozen other carabid posters who do the same. It must be the strict taxonomist in me that craves studio setup shots rather than the outdoor field shots. That's all.

Moved tentatively; great bug
Moved from Beetles.
