Marmara fulgidella? - Marmara fasciella

Marmara fulgidella? - Marmara fasciella
Verona, Augusta County, Virginia, USA
July 3, 2014
what an interesting little critter, supports itself upright similar to Caloptilia - the closest match I found in wing views on MPG is Marmara fulgidella - Hodges #0710

M. fasciella
I would call this Marmara fasciella. The ground color in M. fulgidella appears brown (almost blackish in unworn individuals), whereas M. fasciella has the most insistently orange (as seen here) ground color of all of the eastern-USA spp. In some individuals, the orange areas of the forewing can be rather heavily suffused with brown scales, but the orange can still be seen, so that M. fasciella has a distinctively recognizable look.
