This is an interesting find; this is an introduced species spreading from the Montreal area. Maryland is very far south for it, and there might not be other records from the state.

I hadn't realized that there were any introduced kaytdids (and I should have said katydid originally, sorry, I notice the antennae now). I saw several of this at that site that day.

sounds like an established population
It will be interesting to see if they continue to spread.
On another note, there are four introduced katydids in the U.S. Only one other might be expected to arrive in MD. You can see the list

I actually live in Alabama, I was on vacation in Maryland. I didn't see any katydids on the list would be in my state any time soon but I am going to look at the rest of the list to be sure.
