Bembix sp.? - Bembix americana

Bembix sp.? - Bembix americana
Small drainage east of Point Bennett, San Miguel Island, Santa Barbara County, California, USA
September 1, 2002
I wonder whether this might be B. americana hamata.

Moved
Moved from Bembix americana.

yes, this may be Bembix americana hamata Fox, 1923
According to the red catalog, this subspecies is known only from the CA Channel Islands from "Santa Cruz to San Miguel Islands only"

The photo does look like Bembix americana, and I'm not sure if other similar species occur on San Miguel I.

To be certain we need to check specimens and the literature

Thanks John,
until I can get an ID from a specimen, I'll shelve this under B. americana.

Bembix for sure
Very familiar color and activity, but I haven't obtained an ID past Bembix. Busy little folk, yes?
