probably not acilinea
This is one of those "wierdies" that requires dissection. The apparent presence of a mostly impunctate space on the posterior elytral declivity would pretty rule out acilinea. Other than that, it certainly looks like acilinea to me. Could punctures on the elytral declivity (just anterior to the marginal stria) be obscured by something?

The other common one in that area is lubricus (which has such a mostly puncture free area on the posterior elytral declivity), but the punctures do not quite look right (perhaps just the lighting). At least the specimen is a male, so the 8th segment lateral lobes and tegmen should be diagnostic.

thank you!
I'll see if I can get better photos of the elytral declivity and perhaps dissect the specimen as well.

Edit: where are the 8th segment lateral lobes and tegmen? also where exactly is he elytral declivity anterior to the marginal stria? Sorry, still learning and couldn't find an answer online!

please indicate the identifying authority

It's me
And I doubt myself so hoping others can confirm :) should I indicate myself?

thanks, Derek
in cases like here where the ID is clearly tentative a question mark after the name in the title would be appropriate and prevent questions about the provenance of the ID.
i'll ask Bill Warner to take a look.

sounds good
I'll change my recent photos, thanks for the help v!
