Identification
Variation and melanism require further study (per Neal Evenhuis, pers. communication -HW).
The brown color should exactly fill in cell R1 (the marginal cell); in the similar E. jonesi the brown color does not quite reach the apex of the cell (A. Calderwood)
Range
Canada to Mexico, transcontinental; in our area, NB-BC to NJ-OH-AR-TX-CA(1)
Habitat
Very widespread in cool mountain or coastal locales throughout the West --Andy Calderwood
