Desert Forktail - near its northeastern range limits in central Kansas. - Ischnura barberi - Quivira National WIldlife Refuge, Big Salt Marsh, Stafford County, Kansas, USA September 16, 2005
The Desert Forktail is a southwestern species that extends as far northeast as near Lincoln, Nebraska. It seems to prefer alkaline/saline habitats. In Nebraska and Kansas, it is restricted to salt marshes; in Nebraska, the marshes near Lincoln, and in Kansas, the marshes in Pratt and Stafford counties in central Kansas.
