Parnassius phoebus? - Parnassius clodius

Parnassius phoebus? - Parnassius clodius
East Fork of the Bear River, Summit County, Utah, USA
June 28, 2014
Does enough of the wings show to distinguish this P. clodius. P. clodius and P. phoebus are the two Parnassians that are found in Utah. I have always thought a good way to tell the difference is the white bands on the antennae in phoebus. Am I write?
Elevation about 7,500'.

ID
This is P. clodius. The antenna banding is strong in P. smintheus, but occasionally P. clodius individuals can have weak banding as in this example. Wing pattern is a more reliable guide, especially whether there are red spots on the forewing and the pattern of clear areas.

Thank you
I appreciate the information
