Southern or Northern Pine Sphinx? - Lapara

Southern or Northern Pine Sphinx? - Lapara
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 12, 2014

Lapara
Initially I would say L. bombycoides, however, the habitat may tip my determination either way.

Was this found in an area of abundant pitch pine (Pinus rigida), or where the pines present primarily white pine (P. strobus)?

L. coniferarum is restricted to areas of abundant pitch pine in New England.

Both pines are around the house
White pine is more abundant, but there is a nice little stand of pitch pine 100 yards from the light sheet.
