Hodges #6154 - Belfrage's Plume Moth - Pselnophorus belfragei
Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, USA
July 5, 2014
Size: ~18mm wingspan
At outdoor light. I have been seeing and photographing this type quite often, but with this individual I feel comfortable assigning the #6541 ID because it holds its hindlegs against the abdomen and crosses them behind it, consistent with one of the criteria listed in BugGuide. However, other moths with the same wing pattern I have photos of hold their hindlegs away from the abdomen at an angle - postures also seen on images in MPG and BugGuide. This submission provides a July image for Florida.
