Wasp with fly-like eyes - Astata

Wasp with fly-like eyes - Astata
6 mi NW Lyons, Boulder County, Colorado, USA
July 2, 2014
Size: !9.5-10 mm
This wasp has fly-like eyes that touch. The abdomen is red with black tip (next photo). It seems to most resemble a Crabronidae, possibly a Bembicinae? Any help with its ID is greatly appreciated.

How neat to have this wasp with holoptic eyes identified to a subfamily, one that I am not familiar with at all. Your help is much appreciated.
