Ochterus banksi? - Ochterus banksi - female

Ochterus banksi? - Ochterus banksi - Female
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 11, 2014
Size: 4.5mm
Collected by Tom Murray and sent to me. Using the key for species of Ochterus of the eastern US found in the 'Identification manual for the aquatic and semi-aquatic Heteroptera of Florida' by Dr. Epler I've keyed it to O. banksi. The presence of an anteriolateral lobe on the inner portion of the pronotum led me to this conclusion (see picture). Unfortunately the specimens sent to me are all female so I can't dissect out any male genitalia. I'd like a second opinion before making a species page. I have also taken O. americanus specimens from our insect museum to compare and will be posting those, noting the lack of a lobe and the presence of small teeth on the collar of the pronotum.

Moved tentatively, looks good -- many thanks!
Moved from Ochterus.
