Cicada - Megatibicen resonans

Cicada - Megatibicen resonans
Clearwater, Pinellas County, Florida, USA
July 18, 2014

Moved
Based on location, coloration, and other traits, esp. the pruinosity patterns (i.e. the silvery and whitish edging & wash = wax secretion by cicadas and related groups) the cicada in this image looks to be Tibicen resonans. This species of cicada (Tibicen resonans) is very similar in appearance to T. auletes, but replaces that species across most of penisular Florida s. of Alachua Co. (Gainesville area).

Refer to the following for comparisons.
"The auletes Group"
Tibicen auletes (Germar 1834), "Northern Dusk Singing Cicada"
Tibicen resh (Haldeman1852), "Resh Cicada"
Tibicen resonans (Walker 1850), "Southern Resonant/Pine Barrens Cicada"
Tibicen figuratus (Walker 1858), "Fall Southeastern Dusk-singing Cicada"
