Tropidischia xanthostoma? - Tropidischia xanthostoma - male

Tropidischia xanthostoma? - Tropidischia xanthostoma - Male
Wrangell, Southeast Alaska Panhandle County, Alaska, USA
July 2, 2001
Size: >5 inches total
Camel cricket found at local gas station. Probably came in on barge shipment as others were reported at same time at that nearby facility. Body seems shorter and darker than other photos of Tropidischia xanthostoma that I've seen, but that's the closest I can find.

The date on the photo in my files is July 2, 2001, which sounds about right for time of year since I'm pretty sure they couldn't survive our winter cold, even here in relatively mild Southeast Alaska. None have been seen since, so they didn't become established.

Thanks
They may still be there. A somewhat secretive species, that seems to become common and noticed periodically. I don't know if they occur naturally so far north as Alaska or not, but they could.
