Is this Hemileuca? - Coloradia doris Is this Hemileuca? - Coloradia doris

Moved
Most likely species is C. doris

Moved
Moved from Coloradia.

Moved- Not Hemileuca but Coloradia
Moved from Buck and Io Moths.

Based on your location and the time of year, this could either be Coloradia doris or C. luski. I am inclined to say C. doris because the distribution shown in Tuskes et al (1996) seems to put C. doris at your location, but C. luski only barely, also the larval appearance reminds me of C. doris, but these two species have very similar larvae and it is difficult for me to make an accurate determination from this angle. C. doris has been reported from pinyon pine.

I've added a second image
I've added another image from another angle. Does this help? Thanks!
