Funnel-Web Spider - Barronopsis jeffersi - female

Funnel-Web Spider - Barronopsis jeffersi - Female
Pasadena, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
February 21, 2007
Size: 10mm
I believe this is a Barronopsis sp. Would like confirmation. According to this 1 paper it is impossible to identify females to species without a male. Not sure if it still holds true, but will look for a male. This one was found on my back porch under the awning near the soffit above where this one was found.

Looks
like one. The linked paper is out of date.

Re:
Thank you. I thought as much about the paper, but was the best I could find at the time. Is it true of the females, that they aren't as readily identifiable as the males?

Not
sure. There is a 1999 paper, but it may still be unpublished.
Unsure if there have been revisions pertaining to females.
I wouldn't be surprised if the females are harder to ID to species, though.
