fly - Hilara - male

fly - Hilara - Male
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 25, 2014

Hilara sp., male
ID confirmed from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks Tom.

Does appear to be Hilara. Would key to H. lutea in Melander 1902, but doesn't look like what is in the guide. 2.8 mm.

Key from Roach, 1971
Third antennal segment yellowish; front basitarsi of the male lacking any promiment bristles above ... lutea
Third antennal segment black; front basitarsi of male with promiment bristles above ... (undescribed species)

Thanks John
It is clearly the undescribed species.

Do you have a better view of the fore tarsi?

I have one other dorsal picture of the fly, with the front legs out of focus.
