E. macra found in Sedgwick county. pits are more shallow, surface is dull, and middle maculation turns forward. E. cuprascens found in Douglas county, pits are deeper, surface more reflective, and middle maculation does not turn forward.

An excellent visually instructive page
for distinguishing two species often confused with one another. I recommend penciling in "see BugGuide 96818" next to the couplet asking C. macra vs C. cuprascens in the taxonomic keys one routinely uses. I did just that to three different published keys in my home library. Thank you Adam.
