Excellent data on this moth! The adult is a male - not as commonly seen as females of this species! Note that when limacodid species remain as prepupae inside the cocoon until they pupate a week or so before the adult emerges. This is true of many tropical species as well, but not in all cases.

Do you have any other photos of the larva? I hope you find more, as I've never seen on of this species without a red patch on the dorsum.
