Size: ~1.7
I found plenty of these on the snow out in a wetland. This time I kept the specimens alive with a small amount of water in the vial.

Hydroisotoma schaefferi, indeed.
Well IDed, Tom.
Jim: H. schaefferi is not a 'true' snow flea. Snow fleas comprise some species of Hypogastridae and some of Isotoma that form mass aggregations on the snow surface. However, it is connected to water (hence the genus name), so it may be found on snow, occasionally.
H. schaefferi has a clothing of very fine short setae. Therefore, no furry appearance as in Isotoma.

Neat,
but where's his fur coat? Maybe I'm just accustomed to the typical furry snow flea.
