I think...
...it is Euphydryas chalcedona. Could anybody confirm? I don't know the species differences well.

No doubts, it is Euphydryas c
No doubts, it is Euphydryas chalcedona/anicia, but it is hard to tell if it is chalcedona or anicia. Looking at the pattern of the forewing, and knowing it is coming from Idaho, I will say it is more likely chalcedona, but who can tell for sure from a photo.
