Slow mo larvae - Nematodes penetrans Meredith, Belknap County, New Hampshire, USA February 18, 2004 Size: about 13 mm
Two years before I was probably even aware of family Eucnemidae I discovered a large, dead branch riddled with these slow-motion larvae, most bent in half in what I have come to recognize as a eucnemid larval characteristic. I had hoped some would mature but none did.
