ID REQUEST: Syrphidae, Eupeodes americanus?

Observed feeding (I think) on flowers of Clematis virginiana, Virgin's Bower, in my garden.

This fly is new to me. I've never seen it in my garden before yesterday.

I've compared this with images of Eupeodes americanus and Syrphus. I'm leaning toward the former, but can't definitively key it out. This is the only clear shot I have of this individual, and none of the others provide observation from below.

Unsure which species, unfortunately!
