Vermillion, SE corner of state, Clay County, South Dakota, USA
August 4, 2013
Size: 2mm to more common ~10mm
Very common on the underside, middle vein of bur oak leaves on trees in my yard; either solid pink or pink & creamy white color. Except for color, they're all identical. (See alternate photo.) Some are very small, though many are around 10mm in diameter.

Moved from Gall Wasps.

Moved
Moved from Unidentified Galls.
Definitely cynipid galls; possibly Andricus ignotus, but maybe something else.

Moved
Moved from ID Request. Photo will be seen by proper experts here. Also, in this case, go ahead and post additional photos showing variation in color among nearby gall specimens; just make it clear that they are different individuals in the same population.

Cynipidae
Wooly galls like this are typical of some gall wasps (Cynipidae).
