This is definitely Paravilla. Looks like the fall brood of P. syrtis (not certain). This bivoltine fly has a much sharper wing pattern in the spring brood.

 
Wish I'd have kept shooting these.
Before Joel started IDing these to genus and encouraging more posts, there wasn't much action on bee flies here. As a result, I didn't shoot any for quite some time. Later, I restarted when I discovered I could get better images by shooting where they'd feed. This was after I bought better gear and built my skills a bit. In the interim, I let a lot of flies go by.

Moral: Keep shooting, gang! You may not get IDs now, but the future is bright.
