Sorry, was thinking I was using an abbreviation for subspecies... guess some of the buggy terminlology still eludes me.
I had noted some subspecies listed in places, and was not sure if I see more than one subspecies of the Southern Green Stink Bug (Nezara viridula). Obviously much of a bug expert!
What does the "(s.str.)" refer to?

shorthand for subspecies is ssp.
i'm not aware of any subspecies recognized within
N. viridula
; that category is seldom used in this order, and among flying insects in general, except for a few oversplit highly collectible groups, such as Cicindelini.
's.str.' stands for
sensu stricto
[='strictly speaking, narrowly interpreted'] and in this context means that the bug is a member of the nominotypical subgenus,
i.e.
