...leave it in Tibicen instead. Mr. Bill Reynolds should have a look at this before it gets moved.

Tibicen Species.
Not the 13th year cicadas. When periodical 13 and 17 year cicadas freshly molt, they are white and black in color.

This species within the Tibicen genus is actually an annual species that appear on a yearly basis (non synchronized emerging). Likewise, periodical 13 and 17 year cicadas generally emerge in the spring (as early as March in the southern states) and only last until June (though, sometimes they do straggle into later months).

I believe this may be Tibicen tibicen, the swamp cicada, due to the blackened wingbuds on the exuvium.

Based upon the comments submitted, I am updating the identification for these pix. Thanks for the expert help. I was just going on the local news identification of a specific hatch affecting our area.
