Fairly sure this is the right ID. In any case, it is the same subgenus (Desmoris, fulvus group). Anderson

states no biological information known. However, your observation matches the host plant information (Silphium perfoliatum) of MJ Hatfield's post.

, is only mentioned for
S. (Desmoris) floridanus
in

)
; your bug is not in that subgenus, but, on the other hand, some smicros seem not to be too picky as it comes to the composite hosts
i so hope we get them sorted out one day; it's a damn shame pics like yours don't have a name
