Dolichopodidae? - Sciapus platypterus

Collect one

Please collect one and send it to a museum. This is the first known record of Sciapus platypterus in North America. The male is distinctive with the broad wing and white band on mid leg. The female lacks these modifications and is similar to other dull colored Sciapus.

Sciapus platypterus?

Appears to be the common European species Sciapus platypterus. Contrast S. pallens which has the fore legs modified.
