Wasp - Parancistrocerus perennis

Wasp - Parancistrocerus perennis
Elkins Park, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
August 8, 2014
This wasp(? Hornet?) was checking out a bamboo stake in our garden, crawling into, then back out of, the hole in the top. Wasn't sure what, exactly, it was trying to do.

Maybe Euodynerus schwarzi?

Don't think so.
None of the specimens in the Guide have any yellow. I wouldn't venture a guess on this one. There are too many that are similar. :)

Thanks, Ken!
:)

Oh!
I thought that was just an off-color image rather than "no yellow"!

Learning here!

Thanks!
