Just curious how you know it'
Just curious how you know it's non-biting? I thought horseflies had longer bodies, but maybe I have been confusing them for something else. Thanks, as always.

Males don't bite
Male horse flies, the ones with eyes meeting on top of the head, don't bite. Females need blood to produce eggs. Mosquitoes and black flies work the same way; males are harmless and females are usually biters.

This may be a completely non-biting species. If it's a Stonemyia, females don't bite either.
