Springtail - Hypogastrura nivicola
Victoria/Carver Park Reserve, Carver County, Minnesota, USA
March 10, 2007
Size: 1.8 mm
hypogastrura nivicola. ID by Frans Janssens

Excellent image,
loaded with detail!

the minute anal spines dorsally on the anal segment, typically for nivicola. If you find any lookalike snowfleas with distinctly larger anal spines it is H. harveyi. Checkout the pictures of H. harveyi of Tom Murray to compare the anal spines.

Hypogastrura nivicola
Thanks, Keith. Moved to Guide.

you're confident of the ID, you can submit the pictures right into the guide page. There's already one up for Hypogastrura nivicola, but absent of any pictures, for some reason. I won't move this myself yet in case there's some reason it's in the ID request section
