I saw a couple of these emerging from around buildings, etc., on a warm spring day in the general area of Wilmington, North Carolina. This one was perched on my car at Carolina Beach State Park. I placed it on the ground in some beds of mulch, and I thought the image came out well. Size estimated. Carolina Beach State Park is an interesting area for insects--one I'd like to explore more in the future. It is largely a very xeric Longleaf Pine (Pinus palustris) ecoystem. These Largus bugs seem to like this sort of habitat--I saw one previously at Weymouth Woods, a similar dry Longleaf Pine-dominated area:
