After spinning some silk around an insect, this spider went to the top of its web and curled into a small ball.

Harmless and beneficial orb weaver
in the genus Araneus. It might be A. gemmoides, but it might also be Araneus illaudatus. We would need to see the ventral side to be sure, but others may be able to tell them apart.

Hovenweep National Monument is not a County
It is in San Juan County. I just added Hovenweep as the region so not sure why it says County.
