Moved from Haploglenius. This keys out perfectly in the 2013 revision of the genus. This is also just barely north of records in Sonora, Mexico, so it's really within expected territory. This happens for Sonoran species frequently enough as the desert extends into Arizona.

interesting owlfly
There is speculation on the BugGuide Facebook group (December 2017) that this could be a new species for the guide and/or a new record for North America (in the United States/Canada sense). One possibility is Haploglenius flavicornis MacLachlan, 1871--known from Mexico (Abraham, The genus Haploglenius from South America.

Madrean Archipelago Biodiversity Assessment Observations, perhaps a female with a plump abdomen. The leading edges of the wing are "tinged with brown" as mentioned in a key I found online. Seems to be lacking in the image here on BugGuide. The antennae sure look similar, for what that's worth. Very exciting find!

Comparison with illustration of H. flavicornis
I made a composite comparing the wings of this specimen and a published illustration of H. flavicornis:



It looks to me the projection on the forewing clinches the ID, but I think those with more expertise than I should weigh in!
