Tiny Parasitic Wasp - Conostigmus - female

Tiny Parasitic Wasp - Conostigmus - Female
Guelph, Wellington, Ontario, Canada
March 10, 2007
Size: <1 mm
The wasp expired much more quickly than I had expected. I do not know what the host species is, but it should be the larva of a fungus-feeding species.

Moved
Moved from Megaspilidae.

Moved
Moved from Ceraphronidae. This is close enough to move to family page. There are some other parasitoids, dryinids I think, that can have similar wing venation.

Moved
Moved from parasitic Apocrita.

Ceraphrontid Wasp (family Ceraphrontidae)
Venation is indeed vestigial, but curved "marginal" vein is diagnostic.
Most of these tiny wasps parasitize Homopteran hosts.

Thanks, Richard
I was afraid that the photo wasn't clear enough for identification. This was quite a tiny wasp indeed.
