Blister (?) Beetle - Lytta magister

Blister (?) Beetle - Lytta magister
Puerto Blanco Trail, Organ Pipe Natl Monument, southwest, Arizona, USA
April 13, 1993
We found this line of beetles moving across the desert floor. Couldn't figure out where they were going and it didn't seem like they knew either!

These are blister beetles, probably Lytta magister. Maybe this is a group of males following a female? Life is short: mate!
