black speck - Rhyzopertha dominica

black speck - Rhyzopertha dominica
Goshen, Orange County, New York, USA
August 24, 2014
Size: apx 1.5 mm
Sorting through my birds partially eaten seeds, I found this tiny black speck that moved. On closer evaluation, it turned out to be the attached living creature that was no more than 1-2 mm in length. The image is the best I could get without photomicroscopy but I hope there is enough detail for someone to venture an ID.
