Unknown Everglades Moth - Acronicta oblinita
Anhinga Trail, Everglades N.P., Dade County, Florida, USA
March 15, 2007
Photo taken on my eldest son's 50th birthday! My series of Anhinga Trail moth photos were taken over the course of three evenings at the lighted restrooms at the parking lot. Lights inside the restrooms illuminate glass block walls and attract insects. I was able to plug in a mercury vapor lamp nearby and also ran a small black light on the roof of our car. Moths were photographed in situ or moved to a well-lighted spot where they were photographed and released.
