Not-so-Black-Widow? - Latrodectus hesperus

Not-so-Black-Widow? - Latrodectus hesperus
Victorville, San Bernardino County, California, USA
August 31, 2014
Size: 5/8-3/4" without legs
This shot shows the markings under the abdomen - not exactly red and thick through the middle of the "hourglass" - but I was unable to get a shot from the top of the spider because of the way it was hanging from the trash can.

No ID?
I see this post was moved from ID Request, but it still has not been identified. Does it have a greater chance of recognition in this section, or does this mean I have to give up on finding out what it is?
This is my first post, so please forgive my ignorance - I just want to know how dangerous this new spider is and am not familiar with the process that leads to an answer.
