velvet ant small red-bk with white bands - Dasymutilla - female

velvet ant small red-bk with white bands - Dasymutilla - Female
6 miles NW Lyons, Boulder County, Colorado, USA
August 31, 2014
Size: ~8 mm
This small velvet ant was running down the gravel driveway. It looks similar to several of the velvet ants. Perhaps closest is Dasymutilla angulata, #674594, but the head on this gal is more rounded rather than angular and the connection between thorax and abdomen less obvious. Any help with its ID will be much appreciated.
