Magnificent Moth - Antheraea polyphemus

Magnificent Moth - Antheraea polyphemus
Brady, McCulloch County, Texas, USA
August 6, 2014
Size: ~3-4 inches
This is the most spectacular moth (?) I have ever seen. What kind is it?

I went to see what my dog was sniffing and took 3 good pictures with my cell phone before it flew into a tree about 50 yards away. I resized this one for easy upload but you are welcome to the full size images (~ 2 mb each) if they would be useful to bugguide.net. I know nothing about bugs but love bugguide when I find an unusual one. Keep up the good work!
