Robber Fly - Proctacanthus fulviventris

Robber Fly - Proctacanthus fulviventris
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA
June 16, 2004
This photo was taken at the Frenchman's Forest Natural Area. Looking through Giff Beaton's images, this could be a species of Proctocanthus.

Moved from Proctacanthus.

Orange robber
This is one beautiful robber. And it is likely Proctacanthus. It is not one of the widely distributed eastern species. And is not an Arkansas species. Proctacanthus fulviventris occurs only in Ga and Fla and it may be this species but I have no shots of it anywhere.
